Recent Green Line accidents

Today's collision between two Green Line trolleys in Newton is not the first time in recent months that trolleys on the line have been involved in accidents.

A trolley on the B branch derailed and caught fire May 14 on Commonwealth Avenue near Chestnut Hill Avenue, disrupting service and damaging the trolley and track but causing no injuries.

In February, a passenger was injured when a trolley on the B branch collided with a truck at Commonwealth Avenue near Cummington Street.

In December, nine people received minor injuries when a trolley crashed into another one ahead of it at Boylston Station.

In September, a trolley and a flatbed truck collided on the C branch near Coolidge Corner, leaving the truck driver and three passengers with minor injuries.
