BOSTON—Prosecutors have filed a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon against a man shot by police on Boston Common after he allegedly drew a fake gun.

Suffolk District Attorney spokesman Jake Wark says the complaint was filed Friday against Shawn Craig.

The 43-year-old man was recovering from non-life threatening injuries at Boston Medical Center after being shot in the shoulder Thursday evening.

Officers approached Craig on Boston Common because he was suspected of being wanted on a warrant. Police say Craig fled on foot with officers in pursuit.

An officer shot Craig after he allegedly pulled what appeared to be a gun, but turned out be a replica.

Craig faces arraignment on Monday.
