Police: Cop shoots man in Boston Common after fake gun drawn
BOSTON—Police say an officer shot a man in the shoulder on Boston Common after the suspect drew a fake gun during a daylight chase.
Officer Eddy Chrispin said the man, whom police did not identify, was treated at Boston Medical Center on Thursday with non-life threatening injuries.
Chrispin said just before 7 p.m., police approached the man, whom they suspected was wanted on a warrant.
The man fled with officers in pursuit and allegedly pulled what appeared to be a gun.
An officer, whom Chrispin did not identity, then shot the suspect in the shoulder. Police later determined the suspect's gun was a replica.
Chrispin said the suspect will face charges including assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to department policy, the officer will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into whether the shooting was justified.![]()
