JPMorgan to expand in Boston, add more than 300 jobs
BOSTON—Investment bank JPMorgan plans to move into a new office on Boston's waterfront and add more than 300 jobs.
Tuesday's announcement came about a month after Mayor Thomas Menino proposed extending tax incentives to JPMorgan. A spokeswoman for New York-based JPMorgan Chase and Co. says the company has applied for the incentives.
JPMorgan has signed a lease for 100,000 square feet of office space at 451 D Street in the Seaport development area, where city leaders are trying to encourage growth. JPMorgan plans to add more than 300 employees over five years to its Investor Services unit.
JPMorgan already employs about 600 in Boston, at two downtown sites on Tremont Street and Beacon Street. The Tremont lease ends in February 2009, a few months after the waterfront office will open.![]()
