NORTHAMPTON, Mass.—A Northampton Fire Department captain and his wife have been charged under the state's so-called social host law.

Prosecutors allege that Edgar and Deborah Lesko allowed several underaged youths to drink alcohol in their home last July. One of those youths, 19-year-old David Holman, was later killed when the car he was driving struck a tree.

The couple was released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty in Northampton District Court to four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

The Leskos' son, Andrew, was charged with four counts of procuring alcohol for a minor and one count of being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Edgar Lesko was placed on administrative leave from the fire department, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
