Man charged with kidnapping, assaulting teen on Cape Cod

DENNIS, Mass.—A Cape Cod man is being held on $500,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to kidnapping a 15-year-old girl from her home as she slept and repeatedly raping her.

Thirty-year-old Scott Pereira of Dennis was arrested and arraigned Tuesday on charges including rape of a child with force, indecent assault and armed burglary.

Police allege Pereira entered the girl's home in Dennis after midnight on May 11, threatened her with a knife, took her outside and assaulted her. He then allegedly brought the victim to a second location, where he again assaulted her.

The girl was eventually able to escape her attacker, return home and tell her parents.

The Cape Cod Times reports that evidence recovered after the attack helped identify Pereira.
