The Defense Department says an Army airborne Special Forces sergeant from Massachusetts is among three who have died from injuries in a vehicle mishap in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon said Monday that 39-year-old Master Sgt. Shawn Simmons of Ashland was killed with two others when their vehicle rolled into a canal in Khosrow-E Sofla on Sunday.

The others killed were 32-year-old Army Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey Radamorales of Naranjito, Puerto Rico, and 24-year-old Army Sgt. James Treber of Imperial Beach, Calif.

All were assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C.
