Mass. man gets life for killing teen, burning body
BOSTON—A man convicted of strangling a former Milton High School cheerleader, then burning her body and dumping it in Boston's Franklin Park has been sentenced to life in prison.
Rodrick Taylor was convicted last week in the April 2006 death of 19-year-old Dominique Samuels.
On Tuesday, Taylor was sentenced to the mandatory term for second-degree murder -- life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
Before sentencing, Taylor insisted he was innocent in a lengthy statement to the court.
During his trial, prosecutors said the 37-year-old Taylor strangled Samuels, took her body from her Dorchester rooming house and burned it in an attempt to destroy evidence linking him.
Prosecutors said Taylor killed Samuels because she rebuffed his sexual advances.![]()
