BOSTON—Bail has been set at $3,000 for a teenager shot by a Boston police officer during a drug investigation.

Police say Ariel Lara Aguasviva of Jamaica Plain was shot in the chest during a struggle with the officer after a vehicle stop in the East Boston neighborhood Wednesday night.

He's charged with distributing heroin, assault and battery on a police officer and other offenses. During his arraignment Thursday in East Boston District Court, a judge ordered Aguasviva to stay away from the neighborhood.

A second man, 22-year-old Jorge Luis Ortiz Lara of Palmer, was charged with drug offenses and held on $500 bail.

Police said the officer was working with state police on an investigation when he tried to stop a sport utility vehicle.
