Two women killed, one injured in crash on Route 1
Two women were killed and one is hospitalized after their car veered off Route 1 south near Myrtle Street and hit a tree about 7 p.m. on Saturday, according to family and State Police.
The three had been hanging out with friends outside the New England Country Music Festival before the accident, according to family.
Debra Davis, 20, of Milton and Alexa Latteo, 19, of Mansfield were pronounced dead at the scene.
Davis, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was a beautician for Salon Marc Harris in Boston.
Their friend, Nina Houlihan, 20, of Norton, was sitting in the back seat during the accident and was airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Today she is recovering from a broken pelvis. Her injuries were non-life-threatening according to her father, John Houlihan.
"I don't know what I'd do without her," he said after pulling into his driveway at their Norton home after spending the day at the hospital at his daughter's bedside.
Latteo's uncle, Mark Shelley, said she was going to be a junior at Bridgewater State College and that she was studying to be a special education teacher because she loved to work with kids.
The family declined to comment further.
Davis was the only passenger wearing her seatbelt.![]()
