BOSTON—Students from around the globe are flooding to Boston University in record numbers.

This fall the school will welcome 444 foreign freshman, a 39 percent increase from last year and the largest number the university has seen. It also surpasses the school's long-term goal for incoming freshmen.

Boston University already has one of the largest populations of international students in the country.

The largest number of incoming foreign freshmen hail from South Korea followed by India and China.

School officials tell the Boston Globe they hope the trend will continue as they prepare for an expected drop in the number of American high school graduates.

The school has also considered offering financial aid to international students.
