BOSTON—Prosecutors say four people have been indicted on attempted murder and other charges stemming from an extortion attempt that nearly killed a Boston man.

District Attorney Dan Conley says Joseph Caldwell of Mattapan; Domonic Campbell of Cambridge; Tyon Feaster of Cambridge; and Jillian Jacques of Allston are charged with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping with intent to commit extortion, attempt to murder, and arson.

Authorities say that on June 1, a 24-year-old Boston man was held captive at gunpoint after Jacques lured him into her apartment. The man was allegedly beaten, threatened, and robbed. The defendants then allegedly demanded a $5,000 ransom from his family.

The defendants were held on bail and are due back in court on Sept. 26.
