Mass. AG highlights role of service dogs
BOSTON --The attorney general's office has gone to the dogs -- but for good reason.
Attorney General Martha Coakley and several employees on Thursday participated in "Dogs at Your Desk" day to highlight the role of service dogs in helping combat veterans.
The six visiting service dogs are part of the Princeton-based NEADS organization, which provides dogs to help the deaf and physically disabled.
The organization has recently been selected to help train dogs for injured Iraq and Afghanistan soldiers as part of the Canine for Combat Veterans program.
Coakley -- who was joined by yellow lab Gumbo at her desk -- said the program helps veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan better acclimate to their communities. ![]()
