Some of the events planned for Veterans Day

CHELSEA The Chelsea Soldiers Home will hold its annual Veterans Day celebration at 10:30 a.m. in the Martin Auditorium, , 91 Crest Ave. This years keynote speaker will be state Representative Anthony Verga, a chairman of the Mass. Legislatures Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs. The event also will feature a performance by the Chelsea High School band, and a holiday meal for all veterans and attending guests.
DANVERS 11 a.m. wreath-laying ceremony at Town Hall. John Baracewicz , a Marine Corps veteran who served in Lebanon, will be the guest speaker. Musical performances by the Danvers High School Chamber Ensemble and the Danvers Junior Girl Scouts , who also will distribute American flags. Taps will be played by Chris Bauer and Brian Tanaglia of Boy Scout Troop 58.
HAMILTON 8:30 a.m. breakfast at A.P. Gardner Post 194, 37 School St. 10:30 a.m. silent march from Town Hall to Hamilton Cemetery, followed by an 11 a.m. prayer service and a procession back to Town Hall.
LYNN Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 56 will hold a 9 a.m . Mass at Sacred Heart Church on Boston Street. A procession will start at 8:45 a.m. at Cottage and Boston streets. After Mass, veterans will process to Breed Square for a wreath-laying ceremony. At 11 oclock a.m. at City Hall, a ceremony will be held in the foyer. Music performances by the Lynn Public School Band and soloist Brian Landry , a tenor from Lynn.
MALDEN A memorial ceremony will be held in front of the American Legion Post 69 (368 Pleasant St.) at 9 a.m. The annual parade will assemble at 9:15 a.m., step off at 9:30 a.m. and proceed on Pleasant Street to Summer Street, left on Summer Street, right on Mountain Avenue, right on Mt. Vernon Street, right on Salem Street to Malden Square, and then Pleasant Street to the Government Center. The fire alarm will be sounded at 11 oclock a.m. to symbolize the end of World War I, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
NAHANT The Nahant American Legion Post 215, in conjunction with the Nahant Veterans Association, will hold a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery. The service will begin with a reading, and will be followed by a wreath-laying at the Veterans Memorial Park. Those interested in participating in the service should contact Peter Przybycien at 617-460-9790.
NEWBURYPORT 11 a.m. Salute to Veterans at City Halls Brown Square. Performance by the Newburyport High School Band, and appearances by the color guards of the Newburyport Police Department, the United States Coast Guard, and the Essex County Sheriffs Department.
SAUGUS 10:30 a.m. Veterans Day parade steps off from the Cpl. Corporal Scott J. Procopio American Legion Post 210 on Taylor Street. The parade will go from Taylor to Summer to Main to Central streets, ending at the veterans memorial on Winter Street. Selectman Stephen Castinetti, a retired Navy captain, will serve as grand marshal. An 11 a.m. service at the memorial will feature music by the Saugus High School Band. The guest speaker will be Tom Sheehan, a Korean War veteran from Saugus. Coffee will be served at the Procopio American Legion post before the parade and after the service.![]()
