A Dorchester man will be arraigned tomorrow in Roxbury District Court on a charge of raping a 10-year-old girl, Boston police said. Jamail Hairston, 24, was charged with rape and abuse of a minor under age 16 after he was arrested yesterday afternoon near Blue Hill Avenue in Roxbury. A woman who was rescued from a five-alarm blaze in Cambridge last month died Thursday, a spokeswoman at Massachusetts General Hospital said yesterday. Charlotte Hill, 84, and her husband, McKinley, were rescued by firefighters from a condo on Prince Street on Nov. 25. The fire left 30 people homeless. The cause is under investigation, but the Cambridge Fire Department has ruled out arson. The spokeswoman would not say whether her death was caused by injuries.Coast Guard: Radar OK amid wind farm
The Coast Guard commander responsible for Nantucket Sound said a proposed wind farm presents no major problems for marine radar. The Cape Cod Times reported that Captain Raymond Perry called the wind project "doable" Friday. Perry said he reached his conclusion after a $100,000 Coast Guard-commissioned study on the effects of the turbines on the radar. His announcement comes as the US Minerals Management Service, the lead agency on the review of the project, prepares to release its environmental report by month's end. The plan by Cape Wind Associates would build 130 wind turbines in Nantucket Sound. Opponents have said that a federal environmental review due this month is being rushed and that the turbines would be dangerous to boaters and ferries. (AP)Teen shot multiple times, is hospitalized

Swimmers dive in for global warming
Seventy-five people, some wearing bikinis, swim trunks, polar bear caps, and moose antlers, dived into frigid Walden Pond yesterday to raise awareness about global warming. Ranging in age from 16 to the late 60s, some dipped into the 45-degree water for only a few seconds, while others swam laps. The Second Annual Walden Pond Plunge, sponsored by the Global Warming Education Network, was one of several events held as part of Global Day of Climate Action, a worldwide effort to call attention to climate change. "We hope we helped to bring attention to the need to do something about global warming," said Jeremy Marin, a volunteer for the event.PEABODY
