Globe, unions closer to deal
New deadline at midnight
Boston Globe management and three of the newspaper's largest unions pushed closer yesterday to agreement on millions of dollars in concessions needed to avert the Globe's shutdown, with one official saying his union has provided the savings demanded by the paper's owner, the New York Times Co.
