Francis Prado (inset), 87, of Taunton, at a ceremony aboard the USS Massachusetts, as one of the 23 surviving sailors from World War II on the ship. Prado served in both the Navy and Army.

Commissioned
Jordan D. Velie, as an Army second lieutenant, son of Larry and Pat Velie of Hull, and a 2005 graduate of Wayland Union High School.

►Army Private 1st Class Brian J. Santos, son of Renee Stoddard of Plymouth and William Santos of Florida, and a 2008 graduate of Plymouth North High School.

►Army Private 1st Class Christopher R. Craine, nephew of Patty Robinson of Brockton, and a 2007 graduate of Brockton High School.

►Army Private Jeffrey R. Gallagher, son of Donald Gallagher of Middleborough.

►Army Specialist Anthony Luciano, nephew of John Hendershott of Hyde Park, and a 1998 graduate of Plymouth South High School.
