A 34-year-old Massachusetts woman died when the golf cart she was riding in was struck by a minivan as both vehicles were traveling on Route 16 in Albany, N.H., early yesterday morning.

New Hampshire State Police said the golf cart, with four people aboard, including an 11-year-old child, was riding in the southbound lane of Route 16 near the Pine Knoll Camp Ground at about 12:30 a.m. yesterday when it was hit by a 1995 Ford Windstar minivan.

The van was driven by David Reed, 47, of Fryeburg, Maine.

Police identified the woman as Robin Clohecy of Groveland.

They identified the driver of the cart as Jared Fronterio, 33, of Gloucester, who was airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.

The other passengers, Andrew Morrissey, 31, of Newton, and the child, whose name and gender were not released by authorities, were treated for minor injuries at Memorial Hospital in nearby Conway and released, police said.

Reed was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation “but alcohol appears to be a contributing factor,’’ police said in a statement.

No charges have been filed, police said.
