Gloucester loses out in bid to represent state on back of quarter

Some in Gloucester may be feeling a little short-changed by the United States Mint. The federal agency this week rejected the Gloucester Fisherman’s Memorial as a national historic site to be engraved on the back of a US quarter, even though Massachusetts residents in March overwhelmingly picked the bronze statue of a fisherman holding a boat’s wheel.
