Concord-Carlisle student held, accused of threats against school
Concord police have arrested a teenager accused of making a pair of violent threats against Concord-Carlisle High School that led to heightened security at the school yesterday, authorities said.
Acting on a warrant issued from Concord District Court, police arrested Concord-Carlisle student Gregory Collison, 18. They charged him with two felony counts of a threat involving a deadly device that disrupts school as well as two lesser counts of disturbing a school assembly.
Concord Deputy Police Chief Barry Neal said Collison was arrested without incident at his home in Concord about 6:15 p.m. yesterday. He is being held without bail.
A person who answered the phone at Collison’s home last night declined to comment.
The arrest comes after what police and school officials described as two “disconcerting threats’’ were found at the school in less than a week.
The threats, found scrawled in bathrooms on Monday and Thursday afternoon, prompted a heavy security response form police and school officials.
Police and school officials have declined to comment on the specific nature of the threats, citing an ongoing investigation.
Concord police and officers from the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s School Threat Assessment and Response System, a regional police consortium, conducted a controlled entry into the school yesterday.
Metal detectors were installed and students were barred from bringing backpacks or bags into the building.
Neal said the arrest had been in the works for a couple of days and that no one else was suspected.
“Nothing leads us to believe that anyone else was involved at this time,’’ he said.
Neal said the security situation at the school will remain heightened into next week.
“There will be a police presence at the school on Monday,’’ he said. “But at this time, we’re still assessing what level will be necessary.’’
Collison is due to be arraigned Monday morning in Concord District Court.![]()
