A debate between incumbent Brockton Mayor James Harrington and his opponent in the Nov. 3 mayoral election, City Councilor at Large Linda Balzotti, is set for tonight at Massasoit Community College.

The debate, sponsored by Brockton Area Multi-Services Inc. and Massasoit Community College, will take place in the Massasoit Conference Center and is open to the public.

Massasoit College’s president, Charles Wall, will moderate the debate, but he will have plenty of help from the college community, as students will help formulate the questions that Wall will ask.

The 90-minute debate will consist of opening statements from each candidate, questions from the moderator, directed questions from one candidate to the other, and closing statements from each candidate. It will offer the opportunity for the public to hear the candidates speak on important topics relevant to voters and for the candidates to challenge each other’s positions on the issues.

The event will start at 7 p.m. The conference center is at 770 Crescent St., Brockton. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
