WESTFIELD, Mass.—The city of Westfield will have a new mayor as City Councilor Daniel Knapik defeated incumbent Michael Boulanger.

Unofficial returns from the western Massachusetts city showed Knapik defeating Boulanger by about 400 votes out of more than 7,700 cast.

Knapik, the brother of state Sen. state Sen. Michael Knapik, also finished first in the city's preliminary election in September.
