BOSTON—CatholicTV has launched a new "widget" aimed at allowing Internet users to embed CatholicTV programing on their personal Web sites, blogs and social networks.

The Roman Catholic network based in Watertown announced Thursday that the new "CatholicTVjr" widget will offer more than 30 different programs each with full episodes.

Director of CatholicTV, the Rev. Robert Reed, said he came up with idea after searching for ways to share the station's programing on other Web sites.

A widget is a set of Internet codes that allows users to take interactive content from one Web site and embed it on another independent Web site.

CatholicTV is available in selected areas on cable in the United States and Canada, but also has live online streaming programs on its Web site.
