BOSTON—Seven men are being held on $500,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal beating of a man in a fight outside a Boston nightclub in August.
Prosecutors said Thursday that five other men were held on bail of up to $75,000 after pleading innocent to assault and battery charges stemming from the death of 30-year-old Jose Alicea of Boston.
Several suspects were wearing black tuxedos with red vests during the Aug. 20 attack. The 12 men from the Boston surburbs of Lynn, Revere and Malden had been at a friend's funeral.
They allegedly had a conversation with Alicea that escalated into a fight. He was found on a sidewalk with severe head injuries and died two days later. Three of his friends also were hurt during the brutal fight.![]()
