BOSTON—A 19-year-old Boston has been ordered held on $500,000 cash bail after pleading not guilty to fatally shooting a pregnant woman celebrating her 18th birthday.
Ruben Sanchez was formally charged with second-degree murder Monday for the Sept. 20 killing of Paula Castillo.
Prosecutors say Castillo was attending a party at a friend's house when the host got into a verbal altercation with one of Sanchez's two friends and asked the men to leave.
Sanchez allegedly fired several gunshots at the home after leaving the party, hitting Castillo in the neck after she stuck her head out of a window to talk to a friend.
His lawyer says his client is innocent.
His two friends, 18-year-old Miguel Vasquez and 19-year-old Andre Brea, all of Boston, were charged with firearm and assault charges.![]()
