QUINCY, Mass.—Massachusetts state police have arrested a man aboard a plane that was about to leave for Germany, charging him with participating in a sophisticated ATM skimming scam used to steal money from bank customers.

Prosecutors say Viadiclav Vladevo is among three people arrested by federal and state authorities after they installed electronic devices on ATMs to capture information stored on credit and debit cards. They allegedly used hidden cameras to record personal identification numbers as customers punched on banking machines.

The suspects allegedly used the data to clone bank cards.

Vladevo is being held on $500,000 cash bail after he was arraigned Friday at the Quincy District Court on charges of larceny over $250 and identity theft. Co-defendant Izaylo Hristov of Ontario, Canada, was also arraigned on similar charges.

A third suspect, Anton Venkov, is in federal custody.
