Police searching for 15-year-old in knife attacks on kin, others
An extensive search was underway yesterday for a 15-year-old from Dorchester whom police accused of stabbing his mother, sister, and three others in two attacks since Wednesday.
The first occurred Wednesday about 8:15 p.m., Boston police said, when the suspect attempted to slit his mother’s throat with a knife as she was sleeping in their home on Roseclair Street.
He also allegedly attacked his sister, who had run into the room to help her mother, police said. The sister sustained several cuts to her face before pushing the knife away, authorities said.
The suspect, whose name the Globe is withholding because he is a juvenile, then stabbed two other females in the house, including a 6-year-old girl, before escaping, police said. Witnesses told police they saw the suspect trying to force his way into the bedroom where the youngest victim was found, and saw residents of the house trying to keep the door closed so he couldn’t get in.
All four victims were taken to Boston Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, and all four identified the suspect as their attacker, police said.
Officers obtained a warrant for the boy’s arrest on charges of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
“The mother of the suspect said she was sleeping in her bed when the suspect attacked her with a knife without provocation,’’ according to a Boston police report. She had slash wounds to the throat and several wounds to arm and hands.
The suspect’s sister “managed to get the knife away,’’ police said last week.
The third victim was stabbed in the upper back, police said. No other details were provided on the youngest alleged victim.
The second attack occurred early yesterday at a residence in the Coolidge Street Housing Authority in Revere, police said. About 11:45 a.m., the suspect allegedly attacked a female juvenile and her 42-year-old mother.
Police believe the suspect knew the victims and had been staying with them after the first episode. The girl was physically attacked and sustained minor injuries. The older woman was stabbed and sustained more serious injuries, though she is expected to recover, police said.
The suspect was described as 6 feet, 3 inches, and 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered dangerous and any person who comes into contact with him is asked to call the Boston police.
