BURLINGTON, Mass.—A former Massachusetts police officer has been arrested on charges that he helped his 26-year-old son run a drug distribution ring out of Burlington.

Forty-five-year-old Kenneth Reynolds, who retired as a Burlington police officer in 2002, his son, Michael, and five other suspects were arraigned Wednesday on separate charges, including drug trafficking, conspiracy and drug possession with intent to distribute.

The suspects from Burlington, Woburn, Wakefield, Stoneham and Waltham were ordered held on cash bail ranging from $750 to $10,000.

Prosecutors describe the younger Reynolds as a ringleader of a drug distribution ring.

The seven suspects were identified after investigators wiretapped telephone lines they had identified as being used by a large-scale heroin ring operating in Middlesex County.
