SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—A Ware man who pleaded guilty to keeping a cache of explosive chemicals and ammunition in his home has been sentenced to two years in federal prison.

Abraham Forish was also sentenced Thursday in federal court in Springfield to three years of probation.

Prosecutors say the 38-year-old Forish had thousands of rounds of ammunition and the explosive chemical triacetonetriperoxide, or TATP, in his home. TATP has been used in terrorist attacks. He pleaded guilty to the charges in December.

The Republican of Springfield reports that Forish's lawyer said his client, a carpenter and handyman, never threatened to use the explosives or ammunition and was merely a war enthusiast who bought the materials with the hopes of selling them for a profit.
