SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—State transportation officials are launching a new program designed to cut down the waiting time for those applying for driver or motorcycle learner's permits or converting out-of-state licenses or permits.
Under the new program, those interested in permits or converting their licenses will be able to schedule appointments online and not have to wait in line once they arrive at their local RMV office.
The move comes four months after the Registry of Motor Vehicles launched an interactive web licensing service designed to cut down on wait times.
The RMV has been testing the appointment service at the Springfield branch since February and, beginning this month, will roll out the service to select full service branches across the state.
