BOSTON—Cambridge attorney Timothy Flaherty is backing away from his call for a recount in the six-way Democratic contest to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of former state Sen. Anthony Galluccio.
Everett City Councilor Sal DiDomenico declared victory last week after a count showed him ahead by about a 100-vote margin in the primary contest.
Flaherty had initially called for a recount, citing what he called reports of voting irregularities in Everett.
Now Flaherty says he's backing off that challenge and is instead focusing on the fall election, when the seat will again be up for grabs.
DiDomenico is nearly certain to become the district's next senator because there were no Republicans on the primary ballot.
