The state Land Court and the offices of the Boston Celtics were not damaged yesterday by a fire in the Causeway Street building where they are located, officials said.

One person was taken to the hospital for evaluation after the fire at 226-234 Causeway St., which was reported at 12:40 p.m., according to the Boston Fire Department.

The condominium building has 12 floors. The first six are offices, including the court and the Celtics’ offices, and they use the address 226 Causeway. The higher floors contain residential units, which use the address 234 Causeway St. The fire was in a ninth-floor unit.

An automatic sprinkler system activated, dousing the fire, but parts of the building were damaged by the water as it flowed down to lower floors, said Steve MacDonald, a Fire Department spokesman.

Damage was estimated at $250,000. The cause of the fire is being investigated, MacDonald said.

Joan Kenney, a spokeswoman for the state court system, said there was no damage to the Land Court.

Heather Walker, a spokeswoman for the Celtics, said there was no damage to the team’s offices. The building was evacuated and everyone filed out in a calm manner, then waited for permission to return, she said in e-mail.
