BOSTON—The city of Worcester has agreed to sell its airport to the Massachusetts Port Authority for $17 million.

The agreement to sell Worcester Regional Airport, that takes effect July 1, must be approved by the Worcester City Council, the Massport board of directors and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The $17 million price tag includes cash payments and permanent land transfers.

Massport Executive Director Thomas Kinton Jr. tells the Telegram & Gazette that passengers are not likely to notice any change operations, but Massport is committed to further development of corporate air service and expanded passenger service.

The agency also plans to work with local officials to improve car access.

Massport operated Logan International Airport and Hanscom Field.
