BOSTON—Senate President Therese Murray is taking a one-week trip to Ireland at the busiest time of the legislative calendar.
The Plymouth Democrat heads abroad June 11 for a medical conference and a series of economic development meetings. She is paying for the travel with personal and campaign committee money.
The trip comes during the final countdown of the legislative year, which formally ends July 31. Lawmakers still have to pass a state budget, deal with major casino gambling legislation and a gun bill proposed by Gov. Deval Patrick.
Spokeswoman Samantha Dallaire said Thursday that Murray "will be in constant contact by phone" with the governor and other key officials.
It will be Murray's third trip to Ireland in the last two years.![]()
