Macmillan Caldwell, 5 months (with mother, Claire), bit into an orange glo heirloom melon that ripened three weeks early at the Many Hands Organic Farm in Barre.

At the Plainville Farm in Hadley, the pumpkins are bulging, nearly ripe about a month ahead of normal. The Red Fire Farm in Granby has had a bumper crop of melons, most ready for picking at least two weeks before usual.
