BOSTON—Gov. Deval Patrick likes political rival Timothy Cahill, but he says he can't see hiring him if he beats him in the election.
Patrick said on WTKK-FM Thursday that while he respects Cahill, the governor has "got a really strong team" and it's a team he wants to stick with.
The issue came up after Cahill's running mate, Paul Loscocco (loss-KOH'-koh), quit the campaign and endorsed Republican rival Charles Baker. Baker denies any backroom deal, and now pledges not to hire Loscocco if he wins in November.
Patrick can benefit if Cahill remains in the race, since he and Baker can split the anti-incumbent vote.
But the governor says he "can't imagine" hiring the treasurer.![]()
