BOSTON—Candidates for Massachusetts Auditor are scheduled to square off in a debate on Tuesday.
Republican Mary Connaughton and Democrat Suzanne Bump are locked in a race to fill the seat being vacated by incumbent Auditor Joseph DeNucci, who is not seeking re-election.
Bump has recently come under fire for receiving twin tax breaks on two properties.
She said assessors told her she is allowed to claim tax exemptions in Great Barrington and Boston. She said she's going to pay nearly $6,000 to Boston after a report in The Boston Globe questioned the propriety of the tax breaks.
The debate is scheduled for noon at Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
Green-Rainbow Party candidate for auditor Nat Fortune will participate.
