BOSTON—A series of debates that has extended almost as long as the gubernatorial campaign itself is winding down.

Democrat Deval Patrick, Republican Charles Baker, independent Timothy Cahill and Jill Stein of the Green-Rainbow Party are facing off for a final time Monday.

The hourlong debate will be moderated by former ABC News anchor Charles Gibson. It will be held at the WCVB-TV studios and broadcast statewide by a media consortium.

The debate is the 16th of a series that have taken the candidates across the state and put them before groups of all stripes.

Just in the past week, they have debated before senior citizens at the AARP and western Massachusetts residents from a television studio in Chicopee.
