BOSTON—The Republican Governors Association is pouring another $1.4 million into the Massachusetts race for governor, bringing its total spending to more than $4.6 million during the campaign.

The money has gone into advertisements supporting Republican Charles Baker and criticizing his main two rivals, Democratic incumbent Gov. Deval Patrick and independent candidate Timothy Cahill.

Bay State Future, a group backed by the Democratic Governors Association, has so far dumped nearly $3.2 million into the race in support of Patrick and in opposition to Baker.

Cahill has had no outside group to float ads in support of his campaign.
