Catholic radio station launches today

A radio station with round-the-clock Roman Catholic programming, WQOM-AM1060, is scheduled to start broadcasting live at 8 a.m. today with a Mass from the Cathedral of the Holy Cross celebrated by Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley. The 50,000-watt station is expected to reach more than 5.5 million people in the Boston area. WQOM is owned by the nonprofit Station of the Holy Cross Catholic Radio Network and is not affiliated with the Archdiocese of Boston.
