Federal officials are offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the conviction of the person who shot a young bald eagle in Wareham. The US Fish and Wildlife Service said yesterday that its agents and Massachusetts Environmental Police are investigating the case after the eagle was found near Shell Point on a beach in Onset Nov. 2. It was transferred to Tufts Veterinary Hospital, where an examination revealed fractures to its wing and leg. The bird was euthanized several days later after it was unable to stand or fly. Bald eagles are protected by state and federal laws.
