This is a list of the 37 police officers who received George L. Hanna Memorial Awards at the State House today:

Brockton Police Officers William Devine and James Cronshaw received the Medal of Valor award for their efforts in stopping a man who was fleeing after had allegedly raped two sisters, killing one, and killed a homeless man.

Massachusetts State Police Detective Lieutenant Stephen O’Reilly, New Bedford Police Sergeant Paul Demers, and New Bedford Police Detective Shane Reul, who apprehended a man after he allegedly murdered his mother and his former girlfriend in New Bedford, kidnapped the 12-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend, and barricaded himself and the girl inside her apartment in January 2009 received a Medal of Valor.

Milton Police Officers Eric Choi, Brendan Douglas, Valter Pires, and Joseph Fahey who shot and killed a man who had stabbed two of his sisters to death and was attacking his remaining sister inside the family home in March 2009, received the Medal of Honor for their efforts in saving the third girl’s life.

Meritorious Recognition Award went to Brockton Police Officer Antonio Randolph, Brockton Police Officer Stanley David, Brockton Police Officer Michael Bunker, Brockton Police Officer Kevin Amaral, Brockton Police Officer Scott Besarick, Brockton Police Officer Robert Grayson, Brockton Police Officer Jennifer Polynice, Brockton Police Officer Anthony Giardini, Brockton Police Detective Michael Schaaf, Brockton Police Detective John Lonergan, and Massachusetts State Police Trooper Robert Fries, who assisted in the apprehension of Luke.

Meritorious Recognition Award went to Boston Police Officer Richard Fitzpatrick, who apprehended an armed suspect during a violent Allston melee in September 2009.

Meritorious Recognition Award went to Boston Police Officer Dean Bickerton and Boston Police Officer John Conway, who arrested a young man in Dorchester after he allegedly shot and wounded a woman sitting on her front porch in June 2009.

Medal of Valor went to Boston Police Officer Brian Mahoney, who pulled a man threatening to jump from the eighth floor of a Boston parking garage away from the edge to safety in May 2009.

Medal of Honor went to Boston Police Officer Patrick Champagnie; Medal of Valor to Boston Police Officer Benjamin Miller; and Meritorious Recognition Award to Boston Police Officer Kenneth Reid, Boston Police Officer Patrick Byrne, Boston Police Officer Anthony Cutone, Boston Police Officer Joseph Gorman, and Boston Police Officer Stephen Crimmins, who subdued an armed suspect in Boston after he shot at the officers from inside a car during a drug investigation in April 2009.

Medal of Honor to Framingham Police Sergeant Phillip Hurton, who was shot in the face and wrist while chasing down an armed robbery suspect in Framingham in April 2009, and has since returned to full duty.

Medal of Honor went to Westminster Police Sergeant Edward Robbins and Westminster Police Detective Ralph Leblanc, who shot and killed a man after he brandished a gun inside a bar in Fitchburg and later fired at officers who checked on him at his Westminster home in October 2009.

Medal of Honor to Massachusetts State Police Trooper Walter Baiardi, Trooper Scott McDonald and Trooper Michael Ofcarcik, who endured a barrage of gunfire from an alleged heroin supplier during an execution of a search warrant in his New Bedford home.
