CAMBRIDGE
A man was struck and killed by a Red Line train in Cambridge yesterday, officials said. The unidentified 57-year-old man was hit around 11:20 a.m. on the southbound side of Kendall Square Station, MBTA spokesman Joseph Pesaturo said. Power to the third rail was shut off to allow first responders to reach the man safely and to allow transit police to investigate, Pesaturo said. Service between South Boston and Harvard Square was halted, and shuttle buses were pressed into service until about 1:30 p.m., when normal service was restored, Pesaturo said. No further information was available last night.![]()
