One new Fall River firefighter had a day he will never forget Tuesday. Glenn Edington Jr. and two veteran colleagues crawled through heat and smoke to rescue an 80-year-old woman trapped on the third floor of a burning house. The woman was hospitalized in serious condition. Edington, 27, was working his first shift after graduating from the firefighting academy. Edington told the Herald News of Fall River that all he did was follow the orders of his commanding officer. He is not a complete novice, having five years’ experience as a call firefighter in Lakeville before joining the Fall River department.
