BOSTON—Massachusetts is shivering under a statewide deep freeze.
Temperatures early Monday were below zero in some parts of the state and the National Weather Service did not expect them to rise higher than the low teens in the Boston area and just 11 in western Massachusetts.
With the wind chill, it felt 21 below in some areas.
Authorities are reminding people to bundle up when outdoors and avoid prolonged exposure.
Boston-area homeless shelters were filled beyond capacity and some schools canceled outdoor recess.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the 30s on Tuesday.
