Global warming real, majority in poll say

More than half of Massachusetts residents believe that global warming is real and at least partially caused by human activity, but have little sense of urgency about addressing the problem, according to a new poll. The survey also found that attitudes are split along party lines. Among those surveyed, 42 percent of Massachusetts Democrats said global warming should be a high priority for state leaders. while 57 percent of Republicans said global warming is not happening or is due to natural causes. The poll by MassINC., a Boston-based policy think tank, surveyed 1,311 Massachusetts residents from Feb. 8 to 14 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. (AP)
