Gym owner faces perjury count

A former Massachusetts gymnastics school owner is set to go on trial on a charge that he lied to a grand jury investigating the rape of a teenage student and the molestation of another in the 1990s. Jury selection is scheduled to begin tomorrow in Woburn Superior Court in the trial of Stephen DiTullio of Littleton. Last year, Steven Infante of New Milford, Conn., a former coach at DiTullio’s gymnastics school in Acton, was sentenced to eight to 10 years in prison for raping one of his students beginning when she was 14, and molesting another. DiTullio is accused of lying to a grand jury when he denied any knowledge of alcohol provided to the teenage gymnasts. He has pleaded not guilty.
