BECKET, Mass.—The race for a seat on the board of selectmen in a small Berkshires town has ended in a tie.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that incumbent William Cavanaugh and challenger Robert Ronzio each garnered 169 votes during Saturday's vote in Becket.
Town Clerk George Roberts is expected to contact state elections officials on Monday to find out the proper procedure for settling a tie.
Cavanaugh, seeking a sixth three-year term, says he expected a close race. Ronzio could not be reached for comment.
Becket has a population of about 1,800 people.
