The town has filled two key jobs and announced that an incumbent official will stay on while a search is conducted for his replacement. Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins Jr. said that Milton resident Thomas McGrath will begin work July 18 as the town’s new building commissioner. McGrath is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, holds a master’s degree in architecture from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture and Planning, is a certified building official, and a registered architect. He is currently the assistant building inspector for the city of Salem. Lowell resident John Mitchell has joined the Department of Public Works as chief pump station operator. He is a graduate of Franklin Pierce College, holds licenses for water treatment and distribution, as well as a state certification for waste water operations. He is currently the general manager of contract operations for the Weston and Sampson Services Company. Thomas Rorrie has agreed to remain as interim town treasurer/collector while the search goes on for his replacement. “I am excited to have Mr. McGrath and Mr. Mitchell joining our team, and I thank Mr. Rorrie for his dedication and continued willingness to serve the Town of Stoughton,” said Crimmins. - Rich Fahey
