ROCKLAND, Mass.—A Boston teenager is being held without bail on charges stemming from an armed home invasion that led to the shooting death of a Rockland woman and left the assailant with a gunshot wound.
Orlando Harrington Kavanaugh pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday at Tufts Medical Center, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Prosecutors say Kavanaugh was armed with a handgun when he broke a back window, opened the back door and entered the first-floor apartment of the Concord Street home on Friday, firing at least two shots inside the home. One of the shots hit 36-year-old Tina Gonsalves who later died from her injuries.
One person in the home produced his own gun and fired it toward Kavanaugh, hitting him once in the shoulder.
